Job Description We’re looking for an experienced and people-focused Laboratory Training and Health & Safety Coordinator to join our client in their laboratory. In this key role, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of their laboratory, manage and support their seasonal workforce, and ensure they continue to deliver industry-leading testing standards. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, in this hands-on leadership role you’ll make a real impact — from recruitment and training to daily operations and continuous improvement. On a day by day basis you will: Recruit and onboard Laboratory Technicians, Senior Technicians, and other seasonal lab staff Develop and maintain training plans, resources, and standard procedures Lead, motivate, and support the laboratory team Coordinate and deliver training for seasonal and supervisory staff Manage rostering and ensure adequate coverage for all shifts Oversee daily lab operations, ensuring throughput, testing integrity, and turnaround targets are met Promote a strong safety culture and lead daily Toolbox meetings Participate in sampling and post-harvest activities Complete season reviews and continuous improvement projects Ensure the lab operates to ISO 17025 and industry best practice standards Support audits, investigate non-conformances, and drive quality improvements Qualifications We’re looking for someone with: Proven leadership and people management experience — ideally in a laboratory or similar environment A solid understanding of lab processes Excellent communication and organisational skills A solid understanding of laboratory processes and ISO accreditation standards Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving Confident in Microsoft Excel and general computer systems Passionate about health, safety, and developing others You’ll report to the Laboratory Manager and work closely with the lead team, Supervisors, and the wider lab team.
