Description Job Summary The CDL Laborer supports mechanical, maintenance, and E&C field operations by performing general labor duties while also operating commercial motor vehicles to transport crews, equipment, and materials. This role combines physical fieldwork with driving responsibilities and requires strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Perform general railroad labor tasks supporting mechanical, maintenance, and E&C crews Operate CDL-required vehicles to transport personnel, tools, equipment, and materials Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain vehicle logs Load, secure, and unload materials in compliance with DOT and company standards Assist with construction, maintenance, and repair activities as needed Operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment safely Follow FRA, DOT, and company safety regulations at all times Maintain job site cleanliness and organization Support emergency response or on-call operations when required Perform other duties as assigned Work Environment Combination of driving and outdoor fieldwork Exposure to railroad right-of-way conditions, heavy equipment, and traffic Physically demanding tasks alongside CDL driving responsibilities Requirements Required Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B, as required) Acceptable driving record per company and DOT standards Ability to perform physically demanding labor in all weather conditions Willingness to work variable schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and travel Strong safety awareness and compliance mindset Preferred Qualifications Prior railroad contracting or heavy construction experience Experience hauling equipment, materials, or trailers Railroad safety certifications or willingness to obtain Knowledge of jobsite logistics and material handling
