Description Teller County's Public Works Department is seeking a full-time Laborer to perform manual labor, unskilled and semi-skilled work in constructing, maintaining, repairing and improving county infrastructure, assets and related sub systems. What You'll Do: (1) Perform general manual labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of County equipment and infrastructure, sidewalks, drains, signs, streets, wastewater system, parks, buildings and other Public Works infrastructure. (2) Make and install street signs for roadways or other signage needs. (3) Follow all safety rules and procedures, attend safety and job training classes as required. (4) Perform similar duties as assigned. Requirements What You'll Bring: Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year in the operation of light equipment. Any acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the listed knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted. You Also Have These Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of: principles and processes for providing excellent customer service, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Skilled in: organizing work, setting priorities, meeting deadlines and following up on assignments; applying logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; interacting with all levels of internal and external professionals while developing strong productive relationships; organization and time management. Ability to: accept direction for supervisor; learn, operate and perform maintenance of light equipment; communicate effectively in writing and verbally; establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with co-workers, other county departments, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and the public. Additional Details About the Role: Visual Acuity/Hearing/Speaking: Must be able to write and read; able to hear, see and speak. Physical Effort/Dexterity: Must be in good physical condition. This position requires the ability to drive a vehicle; normal range of motion and dexterity; ability to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, crawl or climb; ability to lift, carry, pull or drag up to 80 lbs. Environmental Factors: Work is performed in a variety of settings and may require exposure to adverse conditions; such conditions include dirt, noise, rain, snow, and extremes of temperatures. Work Schedule/Characteristics: 40 hours per week. License/Certification Requirements: Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license.
