JOB OVERVIEW

Our client, a well-respected boutique law firm in downtown Toronto, is currently seeking a Labour and Employment Legal Assistant to join their growing team. This full-time, hybrid role is ideal for someone with litigation experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in providing exceptional legal support.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Provide high-level administrative and legal support to a team of labour and employment lawyers, including Partners and Associates.
  • Coordinate schedules, manage calendars, and arrange hearings, mediations, and client meetings while monitoring important timelines.
  • Prepare and maintain legal files, ensuring all documents and correspondence are accurately organized and up to date.
  • Handle submissions to courts and tribunals, including the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.
  • Draft, review, and edit legal correspondence, pleadings, and other documentation with precision and attention to detail.
  • Process billing-related tasks, including reviewing pre-bills and assisting with invoice preparation.
  • Perform a range of administrative duties such as document formatting, filing, and maintaining electronic records.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a legal assistant role supporting labour and employment or litigation lawyers.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with legal billing/document management systems.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a proven track record of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A proactive, professional, and team-oriented approach with strong interpersonal skills.
