POSITION SUMMARY:

The Labour Relations Coordinator supports the delivery of effective labour relations services across the hospital. The Labour Relations Coordinator will assist in managing grievance processes, administering collective agreements, and supporting labour-management activities. This role provides guidance on the interpretation and application of employment legislation, hospital policies, and collective agreements involving CUPE Clerical, CUPE Service, ONA, and OPSEU. The Coordinator plays a key role in fostering collaborative and respectful relationships among management, employees, and union representatives, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
The Coordinator receives day-to-day guidance and reports to the Labour Relations Consultant, ensuring alignment with both operational and strategic priorities

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Industrial Relations, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP) or working towards, preferred
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Labour relations
  • 1-2 years experience in Human Resources, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with all levels of the organization including, but not limited to Directors, colleagues and Union Representatives
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning sensitive issues in a professional manner
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience interpreting collective agreements, conducting case law research and providing case law informed advice on labour relations issues
  • Demonstrated strong working knowledge of relevant employment legislation including, but not limited to, the Employment Standards Act, the Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Advanced computer software proficiency including Microsoft Office, Outlook and Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians
