ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Labour Relations Specialist will manage and administer labour relations policies and procedures. This role involves negotiating collective bargaining agreements, resolving labour disputes, and ensuring compliance with labour laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a thorough understanding of labour laws, and experience handling union-related matters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Collective Bargaining: Assist the Senior Manager in negotiations with unions to develop and revise collective bargaining agreements.
· Dispute Resolution: Serve as a point of contact for employee and/or management concerns, grievances, and disputes, facilitating communication between staff and management
o Conduct investigations into employee complaints and recommend appropriate actions.
· Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant labour laws and regulations.
· Policy Development: Assist with the development and implementation of labour relations strategies that align with Fife House goals, policies, and procedures.
· Training: Conduct training sessions for management and employees on topics related to labour relations. What do you think of this: Assist in the development and delivery of training programs related to labour relations and conflict resolution directed to both management and staff.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate records of labour relations activities and agreements, prepare reports and presentations on labour relations matters to management.
· Advisory: Provide advice and support to management on labour relations issues.
· Investigations and Complaints: Work with managers to investigate and resolve employee complaints and grievances.
o Create and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
o Perform risk assessments: Identify potential hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks.
o Analyze workplace accidents and incidents to prevent future occurrences.
· Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB): Collaborate with managers to ensure compliance with WSIB regulations and manage related claims.
· Return to Work (RTW): Develop and implement return-to-work programs for employees recovering from injuries or illnesses.
