JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Supervisor, this position performs unskilled physical labour, minor maintenance and repair work within Fleet Services

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 10 Education.
  • Six months experience in the operation of machinery and power tools.
  • Experience working in a Fleet related environment would be an asset.
  • Possession of a Forklift operator certificate, training provided upon hire.
  • Possessoin of a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver abstract, from SGI, demonstrating a safe driving record.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to obtain a class 3A Driver’s Licence within a year.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with the public and civic employees.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and under all weather conditions as required by workassignments.
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.
  • Skill in the operation of small maintenance equipment, hand, and power tools in an efficient, responsiblemanner and in accordance with recognized procedures.
    Weekly Hours: 40
    Salary Range: $17.46 to $22.91 CAD per hour (2023 rates)
Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of manual labour duties for the Fleet Services operations.
  • Delivers and picks up a variety of vehicles and parts as directed.
  • Assists with maintaining the shop and work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Performs routine maintenance and inspections on shop support equipment such as various hand tools, power tools, hydraulic jacks, parts washer, etc.
  • Ensures work activities are performed in accordance with corporate safety policies, regulations and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
