Internal/External Posting HR-PW-2026-08 *this opportunity is for an existing vacancy Job Title: Labourer- Public Works Date Posted: Thursday, January 29, 2026 Department: Public Works Closing: 4:00pm, Thursday, February 12, 2026 Location: Public Works Reports to: Public Works Operations Manager Status: Full Time Permanent- 40.0 hours per week Union: IBEW Local 1730 Hourly Wage: $28.09 per hour with benefits as per the current IBEW Local 1730 Collective Agreement Job Summary: Reporting to the Public Works Operations Manager, or designate, will be responsible to perform a broad range of manual labour duties including planting, digging, raking, cleaning, painting, shoveling, snow shoveling and general care and maintenance of municipal and park properties. Duties may include assisting with road construction & maintenance – road painting, pot hole patching. Position Requirements: High School Diploma Demonstrated experience operating lawn maintenance and grounds keeping equipment including small hand tools Demonstrated courteous and polite manner when dealing with the public Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act Must have and maintain a valid “G” driver's license; “DZ” license would be considered an asset Ability to operate a standard transmission vehicle Must be physically fit to complete manual labour duties and able to lift up to fifty (50) lbs The successful applicant will be required to obtain and submit a criminal record check and driver’s abstract prior to start date at candidate’s expense.
