The Laborer position is an entry-level role that requires individuals to perform predominantly manual tasks, including pulling, digging, landscaping, moving, transferring materials, and other related duties. This individual is a team player with a strong work ethic, eager to learn new skills and contribute to the team. Core Competencies Safety & Quality Focused Utility Construction Communication Teamwork Adaptability / Flexibility Problem Solving Accountability and Dependability Attention to Detail Job Responsibilities Supports the building of buried facilities by filling support roles as part of the HDD, backend, and cable placement teams. Responsible for completing tasks as assigned by the forepersons or Construction Manager on a day-to-day basis. Must hold awareness regarding site safety and identify unsafe working conditions and not proceed with work if it endangers themselves, other workers, and/or the public. Maintains company equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines. Take personal responsibility to meet the quality standards to satisfy customer needs in the work that they do. Applies due diligence in ensuring accuracy in promptly completing all necessary documentation, equipment logs, and FLHA. Proactive in maintaining a clean and organized worksite and assisting with construction clean-up as necessary. Is ready to perform additional assignments per the supervisor's direction. Requirements Valid AB Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract, and own vehicle. High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred. Physically fit and able to bend, kneel, climb, and lift (up to 75 lbs.). Prior experience in underground utility construction with an understanding of utility depths and placement standards. Possess general knowledge of construction practices. Ability to drive trucks and trailers as required. Mechanically inclined. Strong work ethic. Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather (i.e., snow, rain, wind, etc.) if required. Work Conditions Ability to work in various environments/settings with moderate to loud noise levels. Equipped to work in excavations, manholes, and tunnels Prepared to sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift for long periods of time Able to lift to 75 lbs. Valid Canadian Driver’s License Overtime, as required. Able to work in various locations in Western Canada
