The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing total comprehensive nursing to patients and their families through the development of a plan of care, including implementing, reassessing, evaluating and revising the plan of care. The RN develops these patient-specific plans by performing psychosocial/physiologic assessments, considering patients’ cultural/ ethical/ spiritual needs, reviewing trends of similar patients, as well as considering physicians’ orders regarding care. The RN integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care to include patient and family education, and actively supports and incorporates nursing regulations and standards, as well as Franciscan Alliance processes and procedures in daily practice. As a Lactation Consultant, this RN helps educate, care, and advocate for breastfeeding families, both in and out of the hospital as well as support internal healthcare professionals in facilitating breastfeeding, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required: Lactation Consultant (LACT) - International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE)
  • Required: Associate’s Degree Nursing/Patient Care
  • Required: Registered Nurse (RN) - State Licensing Board
  • Required within 90 days: Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree Nursing/Patient Care
  • Required if required by unit: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
  • Required if required by unit: Unit Specific Certifications - Franciscan Alliance
  • Required if required by unit: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association
  • Required if required by unit: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - The American Academy of Pediatrics
