Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Land Accountant. The right candidate will apply the principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports; maintain budgets and projected costs regarding land/lot acquisitions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Review job costs for budget variances, cost code errors, dollar amount errors on invoices, etc., for land/lot acquisitions Review Gross Profit Margins of subdivisions Conduct monthly close procedures and ensure that deadlines are met Oversee Due Diligence Reconciliation and review Create land spreadsheet for payments Run various reports and perform budget tracking Prepare/update land acquisition proformas (LAPs), Forestar proformas, and the Financial Project System (FPS) Run a weekly funding request Assist vendors with any questions Assist with reconciling transactions and budgets pertaining to homes sold for the end of month process Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company Ability to travel overnight Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or related area of study) from a four-year college or university Two to five years of related experience and/or training Understanding and ability to adhere to General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Familiarity with land/lot contracts Possess strong verbal and written communication skills Provide attention to detail and manage multiple responsibilities Ability to accurately and efficiently process and record large volumes of data Proficiency with MS Office and email Preferred Qualifications Advanced Excel Skills preferred Come join a winning team with a Fortune 500 company!
