Join Team Salisbury as an Engineer in the Land and Development Services Department. We’re seeking a motivated Engineer to review and analyze plans and calculations of proposed development and related infrastructure. This role plays a vital part in shaping the city’s development and infrastructure while ensuring regulatory compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws.

Main duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Reviews construction plans and specifications of proposed developments for compliance with established local, state, and federal codes, standards and technical specifications and sound engineering principles; reviews requests for variances and provides documentation for approvals.
• Reviews stormwater plans/calculations to ensure compliance with NPDES requirements.
• Assists inspectors in field supervision of construction; certifies completed work following construction and reviews as-built plans.
• Provides technical support to developers and contractors to assist in compliance with local design standards and permitting requirements.
• Assists with maintaining and updating the City’s construction standards manual. Preferred Qualities:
• Ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
• Ability to work and have regular communication with developers, design engineers, and the general public. Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree from a college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, engineering, construction, project management, or related field
• Some experience in land development or municipal engineering
• Possession of valid North Carolina driver’s license Preferred Qualifications:
• Registration as an Engineering Intern (EI)
• Ability to obtain licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE)Benefits Include:

Salary Range: $61,209.14 – $87,529.07 (starting salary dependent upon experience)
$2,000.00 sign-on bonus to be paid as a lump sum after completion of a successful probationary period
