LAND MANAGEMENT TECHNICIAN

The Land Management Technician position provides a unique full-time seasonal employment opportunity in the Natural Resources field with a young and energetic company. The Technician role will help accomplish a variety of field work tasks, including but not limited to: herbicide applications using a backpack sprayer or UTV sprayer, weed whacking, mowing with a riding mower or a tractor-mounted brush hog, using various hand tools, broadcasting and raking in seed, helping to operate a hydroseed machine, operating a tractor with mounted drill seeder, cutting down small trees/shrubs using chainsaws and hand tools, hand-dragging material to a staging area, vegetative debris clean-up, light pruning tasks, chipping woody debris into a dump trailer, and planting trees/shrubs. A background in small engine repair and/or a general mechanical aptitude is helpful, as this position will be expected to perform basic equipment maintenance / repairs. On-the-job training will be provided, but there are a few key requirements that need to be met before a new-hire can fill this role:
- A valid driver’s license and experience driving a truck/trailer.
- A background in plant identification.
- Mental toughness – not afraid to spend long days working alone in the heat or cold doing manual labor.
- Physical fitness –Ability to hike up to a mile over uneven terrain carrying a 35-pound backpack, lift 25 pounds to head height, lift and carry 50 pounds over short distances, occasionally lift 100 pounds off of the ground, hand/forearm strength to squeeze a spray gun all day, and ability to work on your feet all day using a chainsaw and hand dragging tree limbs.
- Ability to follow written instructions and compare work orders to maps generated for work sites. Must be able to use a map and basic GPS software on smartphone. Need to submit complete work notes daily. Must demonstrate clear and effective written and verbal communication, as some formal written reports and phone calls to clients will be necessary.
Priority will be given to those with experience in plant identification, performing herbicide applications, and operating/maintaining equipment listed under the role of the Land Management Technician. Ideal candidate will have a degree or 3+ years of work experience in a natural resource or agricultural – related field.
Starting pay: $17.00/hour - $25.00/hour DOE
Full time / seasonal position
This position is anticipated to be filled from early September to the middle of December in 2025. This position will require on average 40 hours of work per week, with opportunities for overtime. Work hours are subject to change based on weather conditions.
The employee will be encouraged to participate in educational opportunities related to work and earn certifications in herbicide applications, chainsaw operation, etc. For the right candidate, work beyond the end of December will be available (although with limited hours). This position will resume with full-time hours in mid-February of 2026.
