Description

CUPAR, FORFAR OR PERTH

We’re looking for a Solicitor with experience in property law—ideally rural, agricultural, or commercial—to join our highly regarded Land & Rural Business team, ranked in Legal 500 and Chambers UK. Based in Cupar, Forfar or Perth, you’ll advise landowners, estates, farmers and rural businesses on a wide range of property matters, including sales, leases, renewables, and diversification projects. This is a great opportunity to grow your expertise in a specialist area within a collaborative and forward-thinking team.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop and broaden your expertise in a specialist and rewarding area of law within a collaborative, forward-thinking team. It’s about;

  • Rural Property Transactions – advising on the purchase, sale, lease and transfer of all types of rural property including farms, estates, crofts, country houses, forestry and sporting estates.
  • Renewables and Diversification –working on renewable energy projects such as wind, solar and hydro, and supporting clients with diversification projects including agri-tourism, land development and leisure ventures.
  • Crofting and Agricultural Law –advising on crofting regulation, assignations, decrofting and succession, and on agricultural tenancies including secure 1991 Act leases and modern limited duration tenancies.
  • Succession and Business Structures – supporting clients with succession planning, inheritance matters and restructuring of rural businesses and estates.
  • Land Management and Access – providing advice on rights of access, servitudes, boundary disputes and land reform legislation.
  • Relationship Building – maintaining and developing long-term client relationships, contributing to business development activity, and working closely with colleagues across our firm to deliver a joined-up service.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

We’re looking for:

  • Around 1–4 years’ PQE in property law (rural or agricultural property experience is an advantage, but not essential)
  • A genuine interest in rural life and the rural sector
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering excellent client service
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong internal and external relationships
  • Enthusiasm for business development and building long-term client partnership
