The City of Toronto is embarking on an initiative to find a successful candidate in a newly created position; Land Survey Associate (LSA). The LSA position provides an opportunity to Geomatic educated students to gain the necessary field, office, and project management training, in effort to obtain their License as a Cadastral Surveyor in the Province of Ontario.
The successful LSA candidate will be under the direct supervision of the Articling Surveyor, and work in the environment of the Engineering & Construction Services Division, learning and providing cadastral surveys, adhering to applicable statutes, regulations and municipal codes and follow the terms of articles, as set out by the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors.
The expectation of the LSA is to garner experience in the field, and office, while managing projects to completion, in support of Capital Delivery, including sewers, watermains, roads and various divisional stakeholders, with respect to property boundaries and City owned assets.
Once the LSA completes their term and submits their Essential Areas of Knowledge of practical experience, they should prepare to write their entrance exam(s) for licensing, with the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors. Upon successful completion, the LSA will be eligible to apply for a permanent Ontario Land Surveyor position, with the City of Toronto, under the Land & Property Surveys Unit.
