Waste Connections is looking for a Landfill Gas Technician to join the team in Walnut, MS! We’re looking for a Landfill Gas Technician to join our team and help us manage landfill gas systems that support renewable energy and environmental compliance. What You’ll Do As a Landfill Gas Technician, you’ll be responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of landfill gas collection systems. Your work will directly support environmental compliance and the recovery of renewable energy from landfill operations. Key Responsibilities: Monitor and maintain landfill gas collection wells, piping, and flare systems. Perform routine inspections and maintenance on blowers, flares, and condensate management systems. Collect and record gas flow, pressure, and composition data using handheld instruments. Troubleshoot system issues and assist with repairs to optimize gas recovery. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Support air quality testing and emissions monitoring. Maintain accurate records for inspections, maintenance, and compliance reporting. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. 1–3 years of experience in landfill operations, gas systems, or environmental monitoring preferred. Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools and equipment. Comfortable working outdoors approximately 60 to 90% of each workday in all weather conditions. Preferred Skills: Familiarity with landfill gas systems and environmental regulations (e.g., NSPS, Title V). Experience with SCADA systems and gas monitoring software. Certifications in landfill operations or environmental compliance (SWANA, OSHA, etc.). Why Join Waste Connections?
