ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Join the team at Cessnock Waste Management Centre and be a part of a growing site where your environmental or operational expertise will directly shape critical environmental outcomes.
We have a rewarding temporary opportunity for a site based, 12 month contract as Landfill Environmental Officer, where you will oversee compliance with the Environmental Protection Licence and drive improvements in the landfill’s environmental performance.
With a new landfill cell soon to open and increased focus on environmentally protective waste operations, this role offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to the way the site operates, through a mix of routine monitoring, reporting, and hands-on project work that delivers real outcomes.
In this role, you will:
Council supports learning and professional development through access to targeted training, certifications (such as drone operation, environmental monitoring, or WHS), attendance at industry forums, and opportunities to collaborate on innovative waste projects.
Please note this position is advertised as Landfill Operations (Environment) Officer; however, the position title is ‘Landfill Environment Officer’ as reflected in the position description.
