Description

Wastech Services, a subsidiary of the Belkorp Group of Companies, is a BC-based company. We operate the Campbell Hill Landfill in Cache Creek, BC and are also responsible for the post closure care of the Cache Creek Landfill, also located in Cache Creek, BC. Wastech Services’ offices are located in Kamloops, BC and Burnaby, BC.
We are looking to add a Landfill Site Engineer to our team. This position will focus on overseeing landfill operations and our prime contractor, as well as civil construction works. This position will report to the General Manager and will be based out of our Kamloops, BC, office, with daily commutes to our facilities in Cache Creek (1 hour drive from Kamloops, BC).

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably civil, environmental, geotechnical or geological).
  • Registered with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) (or ability to obtain registration) as a Engineer in Training (EIT) or a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • Formal courses in project management and/or construction management are considered an asset.
  • Two years minimum of site-related experience in a field applicable to construction and/or solid waste management with experience in project management.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft Office software, in particular Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to keep data and files organized and presentable.
  • Effective verbal, listening and communication skills.Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Class 5 Drivers License in good standing and experience driving and working in all weather conditions.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $80,000.00-$95,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the prime contractor at the Campbell Hil Landfill, ensuring the work scopes being completed comply with contracted and authorized scopes, ensuring quality work, and tracking budget.
  • Overseeing the operations as well as the design and construction works for the Campbell Hill Landfill.
  • Performing conceptual and preliminary engineering analysis related to landfill design and ancillary works (e.g., stormwater management) and overseeing work scopes completed by third-party engineers of record.
  • Managing schedule, scope, and budget for various landfill projects, as well as analyzing and presenting on the financial performance of projects.
  • Managing the procurement aspect of projects (e.g., request for proposal (RFP) processes including creation and development of contracts, specifications, and design drawings).
  • Communicating and reporting any potential inefficiencies or non-compliance issues to leadership team, with a strong focus on providing suggestions and solutions.
  • Overseeing contractors and conducting field reviews.
  • Filling in when required for critical administrative and operational tasks on site such as use of the landfill scale, calibration of safety equipment, and conducting orientations.
  • Remaining current in latest solid waste engineering techniques.
  • Adhering to company policies and procedures related to purchasing, document management, and quality management.
  • Performing additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
