GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Lands Manager, the Lands Assistant and (Band Office) Receptionist serves a dual-purpose role providing administrative support to the Lands Department while also acting as the first point of contact for community members and guests at the Band Office. This blended position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage a variety of office and administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate will be key in ensuring efficient day-to-day operations of the office while also supporting lands-related initiatives and communications.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • General knowledge and appreciation of Lheidli T’enneh First Nation—its people, history, and lands
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Capable of handling confidential information with integrity
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn new skills
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with a clean abstract
  • Ability to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check

Responsibilities

Receptionist Duties:

  • Greet and welcome guests and community members with professionalism and warmth
  • Direct visitors to the appropriate staff members
  • Answer, screen, and route incoming phone calls
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked reception area
  • Monitor and manage office security procedures, including visitor sign-in
  • Coordinate meeting room bookings and maintain scheduling calendars
  • Assist with shopping and related documentation for the Band Office and Lands Department
  • Ensure communal spaces (kitchen, boardroom, printer area, restrooms) are tidy and stocked

Lands Assistant Duties:

  • Support the Lands Coordinator with general administrative and clerical tasks
  • Manage filing systems, print documents, order supplies, and provide departmental support
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for Lands Department staff
  • Prepare and distribute community notices
  • Shadow the Lands Coordinator and provide hands-on support
  • Express a willingness to learn GIS systems and attend lands-related workshops or conferences
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned
