POSITION : Lanscape and Ecology (L&E) Operative
Milton Common Depot, Thame, OX9 2JN
PROJECT : Egis Road operation M40 Ltd.
MISSION & MAIN ACTIVITIES : Join our dedicated Landscape and Ecology team responsible for maintaining the 123km stretch of the M40 motorway. As an L&E Operative, you will carry out essential environmental and landscaping tasks to ensure the safety, sustainability, and visual quality of the motorway corridor. This role includes night shifts and may involve additional duties for which you are suitably trained.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Lantra Certification in Chainsaw Maintenance and Felling (or willingness to obtain)
  • Full UK Driving Licence (training support available)
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
  • Landscaping
  • Forestry
  • Gardening
  • Arboriculture
    Compliance: All employees must adhere to Egis’ Codes of Ethics, Integrity, and Human Resources policies, as well as all applicable local regulations and Health & Safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in daily briefings and scheduled training to ensure safe and sustainable work practices
  • Promote a positive culture around health, safety, and environmental awareness
  • Report hazards and safety concerns to the Team Leader or Foreman
  • Perform a variety of landscaping and ecological tasks, including:
  • Grass cutting and strimming
  • Tree felling and arborist duties
  • Hedgerow and ditch clearance
  • Pond management
  • Application of pesticides (as trained)
  • Maintain professional conduct at all times
  • Ensure machinery and equipment are in good working order; report faults promptly
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks before starting network activities
  • Complete and submit task-related documentation accurately
  • Keep vehicles clean and organized
  • Maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in good condition
  • Report near misses and hazards promptly
    Training & Development: You will be required to complete and pass the Lantra hierarchy of courses to qualify for work on high-speed roads and to perform landscaping and ecology tasks to a high standard. Training will be provided as needed.
