Description

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO TRANSFORM SOCIETY?

Sweco’s landscape architecture team plans and designs sustainable environments where people can live, work and thrive. With a passion (and global reputation) for technical and creative excellence, we combine cross-sector knowledge and experience to deliver truly transformational solutions.
We are looking for an experienced Landscape Architect with landscape planning and assessment capabilities, as well as design experience, to join our national team of landscape architects working out of the Glasgow office. The right applicant will be talented and motivated with a passion to support the development of high-quality projects and distinctive environments through a blend of technical knowledge and artistic flair. Our ideal candidate might be approaching or have recently achieved Landscape Institute Chartership.

ABOUT US

Transforming society together, we’re planning and designing sustainable communities and cities of the future.
Solving the great societal challenges of our time is more relevant, demanding and inspiring than ever before. At Sweco, we bring together experts with different perspectives and skills to develop solutions that address the challenges of urbanisation, harness the positive power of digitalisation and make societies more sustainable.
We offer our clients a combination of global expertise and local presence, adapted to their business and reality. Our ambition is to be our clients’ most relevant partner, working together to help them solve their challenges, today and into the future.

Responsibilities

WHAT DOES THE ROLE INVOLVE?

You will contribute to and sometimes lead the delivery of exciting projects, working flexibly across a range of sectors with a particular focus on energy and infrastructure, but also including commercial, educational, public realm and urban regeneration across the UK.
You will be working with multi-disciplinary design and EIA teams taking a variety of projects through the planning process from site feasibility studies, concept design and landscape impact assessments to detailed design and preparation of management plans. In doing so you will be working closely with engineers, ecologists, heritage consultants and visualisation specialists. The focus of your role will be landscape assessment and appraisal work.
You will demonstrate initiative in project development and coordination as well as helping to manage the client relationship in a professional manner. You will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of project QA, budgets and resources.
There will be opportunities to develop and nurture client relationships and bring work into the business. You will be encouraged to proactively develop your professional, technical and project management capabilities to build your role within the team and wider business.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  • Have a degree and/or post graduate qualification in Landscape Architecture
  • Have a successful and diverse record of project delivery in Landscape Architecture
  • Ideally be approaching or already be a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute
  • Be able to work collaboratively with others to form strong positive working relationships with colleagues, clients and contractors and be capable of effective communication of your work and ideas.
  • Have the ability to organise and prioritise workload to ensure that timescales are met and to effectively communicate progress to colleagues
  • Have a well-structured and proactive approach to work, in which you take pride, with experience of delivering high quality outputs across project stages on projects of varying size and complexity
  • Have extensive site survey experience and the ability to prepare clear and concise written reports.
  • Be proficient in applied use of current digital software including AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud, and MS Office. Capability in the use of NBS, SketchUp and Revit would be an advantage
  • Have a full driving licence
If you believe you have the skills required and are keen to join a dynamic and collaborative team of landscape architects, as well as a business with genuine opportunities for career progression, then we would love to hear from you.
