Description

WHY JOIN SALISBURY LANDSCAPING?

Are you ready to join a team that values your expertise, respects your time, and offers exceptional perks?
We’re not looking for someone to step into a machine—we’re building one. As a Carpentry Sales & Estimator at our well-regarded landscaping company in the Edmonton area, you’ll have the rare opportunity to shape a division from the ground up. This role offers both challenge and reward, backed by a team that believes in doing things the right way.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the General Landscaping Manager, the Landscape Carpentry Sales & Estimator plays a critical role in supporting the success of the Carpentry Division.
This position is responsible for accurately estimating and pricing carpentry elements within landscape projects, including decks, fences, pergolas, and custom wood features. The role involves close collaboration with Landscape Designers during the design and quoting phase, as well as the procurement of materials and oversight of permit processes. This is a hands-on role that also supports on-site leadership and installation activities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on carpentry experience in landscape construction (decks, fences, pergolas, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of local building codes and permit processes
  • Experience reading blueprints, site plans, and construction drawings
  • Proven ability to estimate project costs and materials accurately
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to learn internal systems, including estimating and design software
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract and three (3) years of personal vehicle insurance

Responsibilities

WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT

You won’t be handed a cookie-cutter process. Instead, you’ll play a pivotal role as a division architect—helping design the systems, workflow, and team that will deliver premium decks, fences, pergolas, and custom outdoor carpentry. It’s a role for someone who thrives in the chaos of creation but brings order, clarity, and results.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Play a key role in launching and scaling the Carpentry Division
  • Respond to and qualify carpentry sales leads from both internal and external sources
  • Conduct site visits, take measurements and clients to understand budgets and needs
  • Develop and present detailed estimates, proposals and scope documents
  • Work cross-functionally with other divisions (Design/Build, Enhancements & Maintenance) to support integrated project delivery
  • Collaborate with Landscape Designers to review plans and assist with accurate quoting
  • Source, purchase, and coordinate the delivery of wood and related materials
  • Pull permits for projects in Edmonton and surrounding municipalities
  • Lead or assist in framing and installation of decks, fences, pergolas, and privacy screens
  • Interpret blueprints, design drawings, and understand grades and elevations
  • Maintain quality control over materials and craftsmanship
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and necessary equipment safely and efficiently
  • Promote and maintain a safe worksite, using SiteDocs to document safety compliance
  • Lead and support small crews on-site
