POSITION OVERVIEW

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading teams of 3 to 15 crew members. They must possess the ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and consistently deliver exceptional customer satisfaction.
As a Foreman, the individual will lead by example, fostering a team environment focused on achieving a singular goal: outstanding customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include managing and supervising a team of skilled and unskilled labor staff, effectively assigning and delegating tasks, and ensuring that all projects are completed on schedule and to the highest quality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Experience: At least 5 years in commercial landscape construction and 3 years in a leadership role (e.g., foreman or crew lead).
  • Education: Horticulture diploma or equivalent industry experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating skid steers, mini-excavators, and other equipment.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with OH&S policies and procedures.
  • Attributes: Strong time management, problem-solving, and task prioritization skills.
  • License: Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, with availability for extended workweeks during peak summer season.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and organize daily tasks for multiple crews (minimum of 3 at different job sites) to meet timelines, budgets, and customer requirements.
  • Actively supervise and participate in crew tasks, ensuring attention to detail and quality control.
  • Set and uphold high standards for workmanship and team conduct.
  • Train team members in equipment operation and best practices for landscape construction, including site grading, and installation of sod, mulch, trees, and hardscape elements.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to ensure expectations and timelines are met, documenting any changes or special agreements.
  • Maintain accurate records, including daily work plans, OH&S paperwork, equipment inspections, and crew hours.
  • Manage subcontractor deliverables and quality.
  • Interpret project drawings and specifications, translating them into actionable tasks for crews.
  • Estimate costs for materials, equipment, and labor for change orders and new opportunities.
  • Perform and coordinate snow removal tasks during the winter season.
