JOB TITLE: LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTIONTECHNICIAN

Reports Directly to: YYC Crew Lead, Softscape Crew Lead, Grading Crew Lead YYC Field Manager
Reports Indirectly to: YYC General Manager, Operations Director(s)

JOB SUMMARY

The role of the Landscape ConstructionTechnician is to complete tasks as directed by the site crew lead. These tasks include, but are not limited to; mulch installation, Planting trees and shurbs, retaining walls, rock install, and sod installation. While assisting commercial sites, the crew member in this role will work to ensure quality work and that the minimum production rates are being met.
A successful Landscape Construction Technician effectively utilizes available resources, including apps, software, materials, and equipment, to optimize productivity.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

  • Minimum 2 years experience landscaping is an asset but not required.
  • Must maintain in good standing the following minimum ticket: WHMIS,
  • Recommended that the following tickets are also acquired: CSTS, First Aid, TDG, Load Securement, Skid Steer Training, Loader Training.
  • Learn to read and understand Grading plans, Landscape drawings and other Architect drawings with instructions (can be taught onsite)
  • Basic skills with landscape installation tasks which can include but not limited to planting, sod installation, soft and hard scape.
  • Time Management in regards to personal time
  • Results driven
  • Ability to problem solve
  • High degree of communication skills
  • Handles pressure and is adaptable to changing situations and plans.
    Education Requirements: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Certificates and tickets relevant to the Landscape industry.
    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Seasonal
    Contract length: 99 months
    Pay: $18.00-$24.00 per hour

Responsibilities

SHOP/YARD AND EQUIPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • deployment to their assigned project with the correct assigned equipment and materials.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance as directed crew lead and field manager.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are placed in the correct locations in the shop at the end of each shift or project.

TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be an exemplary team member by working and supporting senior team members and other landscape technicians.
  • Be open to learning opportunities and accept construction instructions onsite.
  • Use opportunities that are made available to develop in regards to Landscaping and job education. Putting maximum effort into your work.
  • Contributes to and understands the shop and site and job safety.
  • Follow all required procedures (LMN Time, Keep Trucking, Slack and Site docs).

PROJECT AND WORK RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Know and understand job scope for each maintenance and job site.
  • Install sod, bushes trees, mow and trim, clean up sites as required.
  • Work extremely hard in all types of weather conditions. If you don’t believe in hard work this job won’t be a match. It is ok to sweat, save the gym membership.
  • Stay up to date on deadlines and changes through Slack and senior employees and management.
  • Contributes to team effort by assisting with other projects when needed.
  • Assists with customer service by providing clear communication to management.
  • Assists onsite as needed (no task is too small)
