JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly capable and driven Landscape Maintenance Lead Hand to spearhead daily operations, lead a skilled crew, and deliver exceptional landscape maintenance services across residential, commercial, and municipal properties. This physically and mentally demanding role requires advanced technical expertise, strong leadership under pressure, and a commitment to precision in challenging outdoor environments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced settings and ensures top-tier results.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday from 7am to 4pm

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating and maintaining landscaping equipment, advanced knowledge of horticulture, irrigation systems, and turf management.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods, including lifting up to 50 lbs, working in extreme weather, and standing for long hours.
  • Certifications: Valid driver’s license required; certifications in horticulture, pesticide application, or equipment operation (e.g., skid steer, chainsaw) are a strong asset.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose plant health issues, equipment malfunctions, or site-specific challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with crew, clients, and management.
  • Availability: Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed, especially during peak seasons.

Responsibilities
  • Crew Leadership: Lead, train, and supervise a team of 2-4 landscape maintenance workers, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Maintenance Operations: Perform and oversee complex landscaping tasks, including mowing, pruning, edging, mulching, planting, irrigation system maintenance, and seasonal clean-ups, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Equipment Management: Operate and maintain heavy machinery (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers) and hand tools, ensuring proper use, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment issues on-site.
  • Project Execution: Coordinate workflows, and manage time sensitive projects to meet client specifications and deadlines, even in adverse weather conditions.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate directly with clients to address concerns, provide updates, and ensure satisfaction with completed work.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations, conduct regular site inspections, and train crew members on safe equipment handling and hazard mitigation.
  • Inventory & Reporting: Monitor and manage inventory of materials and supplies, track project progress, and submit reports to supervisors.
