ABOUT THE ROLE

Imperial College London is seeking an exceptional languages teaching professional to join the Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication (CLCC) as Field Leader for Languages. As a key member of CLCC’s Senior Leadership Team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of language education at Imperial. This leadership position offers the chance to drive academic innovation and contribute to Imperial’s Learning and Teaching Strategy within a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING

As Field Leader for Languages, you will have overall responsibility for the academic and operational management of our institution-wide language provision. You will lead a team of highly skilled Language Coordinators and teaching fellows, ensuring a high-quality student learning experience that is evidence-based, inclusive and digitally enriched.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Setting the overall strategy for the CLCC’s languages provision, ensuring sustainability and robust student recruitment languages modules.
  • Providing strategic leadership in curriculum design, delivery, and innovation across the Languages field.
  • Supporting and inspiring your team to explore new pedagogical approaches and digital transformation opportunities.
  • Leading the design of assessments, learning materials and feedback practices that enhance student outcomes.
  • Overseeing staff development, robust recruitment, and performance to build a motivated, high-performing teaching team.
  • Delivering engaging and inspiring teaching to undergraduates.
  • Contributing to the wider educational mission of Imperial through scholarship, educational research and committee participation.
  • Representing the Languages section internally and externally, collaborating with sector leaders and professional bodies.
