Description

WE’RE LOOKING FOR A TALENTED PHP DEVELOPER TO JOIN OUR TEAM.

Root Studio is a team of passionate and friendly designers and developers primarily based in Lincoln. We hand code innovative, characterful websites that help our customers grow. We love our work and we’re looking for a talented web developer to help us create even more wonderful websites.
This is a full time post and you’ll be working with our existing development team to help make our beautifully designed web applications, sites and custom add-ons a reality using your development skills. We like our websites to be brilliantly designed and look great underneath, so an attention to detail and a pride in your code will be necessary (find out more about our websites).
You’ll have a passion for back-end work as we have a number of custom add-ons and bespoke developments in production or requiring maintenance at any one time but you’ll also have a keen interest in front-end development and how this works closely with the back-end.

NECESSARY SKILLS:

  • Strong experience with PHP and the Laravel framework
  • Experience in building custom addons for CMS platforms and/or in Laravel
  • 3rd party API integration experience
  • Excellent CSS, Sass & JS
  • CMS experience (Statamic/Craft/Wordpress)
  • Experience with Git

WE’D LOVE YOU TO HAVE:

  • Experience in an agency environment (1-2 years)
  • Excellent HTML and semantics
  • Knowledge of CSS architectures (ie. BEM or ITCSS)
  • Experience with tasks and package managers (ie. Vite)
  • SQL and database management skills
  • Basic server management and deployments
We’re looking for someone who’s really passionate about their code and isn’t afraid to suggest improvements to our current workflow and our website builds - we like our team to have a keen interest in design as well as current and future technology. We love a can-do attitude and whilst a lot of our work is Statamic based we’re always happy to help our customers, regardless of platform. This makes a willingness to get stuck-in really important - with new concepts, frameworks and methodologies always around the corner!

IF THIS SOUNDS LIKE YOU, YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO:

  • Competitive salary based on experience (£40-45K+)
  • Flexible working hours
  • Mondays and Fridays working from home
  • City centre parking pass (if required)
  • Company pension scheme
  • A fully kitted out Mac with all the software you need
  • A good work/life balance
  • A trusting, enthusiastic environment
  • A diverse range of projects (front-end builds all the way to custom API’s)
The role is an exciting and varied one and we’re looking forward to seeing what you can do! To apply, please send us an email in the first instance, with a full CV and a link to your website and/or Github profile, plus some links to websites you’ve built in the past (and a brief explanation of what you did, how and why).
This is a permanent position (subject to a probationary period) in our Lincoln studio - you can find out more about working for us here. Our hybrid working includes three days in-studio (Tuesday-Thursday) and two days working remotely (Monday and Friday) with flexible hours available.
Please send your CV along with links to your work and/or your Github profile - we’re really looking forward to hearing from you.
