Description At Thread-Craft we seeking a skilled Manual Lathe Hand to join our team. In this role, you will operate manual and semi-automatic lathes to machine precision metal components in a hands-on manufacturing environment. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who takes pride in quality workmanship. Requirements Responsibilities: Set up and operate manual lathes to machine precision metal parts Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate production Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, gauges) to verify tight tolerances Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure parts meet quality standards Make manual adjustments to tooling, speeds, and feeds to maintain accuracy and efficiency Troubleshoot machining issues and perform minor machine adjustments as needed Perform routine preventative maintenance on manual lathe equipment Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with shop safety standards Support additional production tasks as needed What We’re Looking For: 2+ years of hands-on experience operating manual lathes in a machine shop or manufacturing environment Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) Solid understanding of manual machining principles (feeds, speeds, tooling, material types) Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve independently Self-starter with strong initiative, work ethic, and willingness to learn Ability to adapt to new processes and technologies as needed Preferred (Not Required): Experience working with various metals and alloys Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
