Description JOB TITLE: Machinist/CNC Lathe – Second Shift DEPARTMENT: Machine Shop REPORTING TO: Machine Shop Manager PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION: Sets up and operates CNC Turret Lathe machines to perform various machine functions such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces by performing the following duties. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions: · Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings and machining methods and sequences. · Mounts, aligns, and secures tooling attachments and work piece on machine. · Installs cutting tools in toll holders and machine spindles. · Should be able to operate basic tool room equipment such as Bridgeport, surface grinder, as well as measuring equipment such as micrometers, dial calipers, and dial indicators. · Calculates and sets machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed and coolant flow. · Starts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions. · Stops machine to change cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to print specifications. · Enters commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining. · Operates machine manually to perform non-automated functions. · Discusses errors with supervisor or cell leader to resolve problems. · Cleans machine, tooling, and parts. · Performs daily/weekly machine preventive maintenance. · Inspects product to determine compliance with order specifications, both dimensional and visual using Libra’s quality control system for compliance with requirements for conformity to specified standards. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: · High School diploma or GED · 3-5 Years experience setting up and operating a CNC Lathe · Experience Setting up, Programming and Operating an Okuma CNC Lathe a plus SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: · Education regarding machining and/or technical certificates · Team attitude · Good verbal communication skills · Flexibility · Initiative · Learning oriented · Problem solving/analytic skills · Technical capacity WORK ENVIRONMENT: · This positon will work in both front and shop environments. · In the shop, you will be exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, machines, and material handling vehicles. PPE is required in this shop area. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: · While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to have good hearing and sight. · You will need to be able to walk the shop floor and be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
