JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Laundry Aid Updated: 07/25 Responsible to: Environmental Services Director Job Summary The Laundry Aid is responsible for the laundering of all residents’ clothes as well as all facility linens of Mission Nursing Home. The primary purpose of the job position is to perform required laundering procedures in an efficient, cost-effective manner meeting all State and Federal requirements, while providing a safe environment for our residents. Conduct consistently reflects the facility’s mission and values. Qualifications High School graduate or GED Prior experience working in a senior care environment. Prior experience working in a laundry department Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats. Must be able to pass a State of Minnesota Department of Human Services criminal background study, as well as a United States Office of the Inspector General Exclusion search. Essential Functions Assists Environmental Services Director to ensure facility is in compliance with all appropriate State and Federal regulations. Partners effectively with others and supports all employees within the facility, as directed by the Environmental Services Director. Maintains a clean sanitary work area. Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, and as instructed by supervisor. Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to ensure that services and activities can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents. Participates in facility and departmental meetings and inservices, as required. Maintains all cleaning logs, as directed by the Environmental Services Director. Coordinates daily services with other departments, as applicable, when performing routine assignments in resident living areas. Follows cleaning schedule/instruction from supervisor and as outlined in established cleaning policies and procedures. Maintains PPE consistent with facility/state/federal regulations. Assists in the general processing of both soiled and clean resident and facility linen according to facility protocol Treats and ensures that residents are treated with respect and dignity. Protects organization’s value by keeping patient information confidential. Immediately reports any suspected abuse or neglect per facility policy. Assists the Environmental Services Director with fire and disaster drills. Follow standard precautions, facility safety policies, and works within OSHA guidelines. Attends in-services education and staff meetings as required. Other duties as assigned. Physical/Mental Requirements Ability to endure prolonged walking, sitting, standing, use of pulling, bending, and stooping movements. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Frequently twists, stoops, bends, squats, kneels. Occasionally lifts and carries equipment and supplies weighting up-to 50 pounds. Frequently reaches above or at shoulder level. Ability to adapt to changes in daily work hours and schedule. Must be able to clearly communicate in English orally and in writing with residents and staff. Must be able to read small print in typed and written material. Possesses necessary skills to continuously comprehend and communicate with residents, co-workers, and to respond to emergency alarms. Concentrates with frequent interruptions and remembers multiple messages, information and task assignments to perform a variety of tasks during an eight-hour timeframe.
