Description:

We are looking for Litigation Law Clerk to add value to and be a key team member of our business. You will help to ensure that the Company operates within the law, offer support on legal issues, and ensure compliance on industry specific matters. The candidate will be able to ensure legal compliance and help to limit risk exposure. The successful candidate will benefit from a cross-functional, operationally focused experience and collaborate closely with the management team.

Job Duties:

  • Preparing general pleadings including Pleadings, Motion materials, Bills of Costs and Costs Outlines and Affidavits of Service;
  • Preparing motion records and factums, including hyperlinking;
  • Preparing Affidavits of Documents including assembling, organizing, and reviewing documents for relevance;
  • Representing the company at hearings in the Small Claims Court;
  • Filing documentation at various courts in the GTA;
  • Assisting at Examinations for Discovery and drafting Undertakings Charts;
  • Assisting at Trial, preparing Witness Statements and Summons to Witness forms;
  • Commissioning affidavits, including remote commissioning;
  • Enforcing judgments through garnishments, writs, and examinations, as required;
  • Maintain and update files with correspondence and documentation;
  • Diarize all important dates and deadlines with respect to appeals and/or court proceedings;
  • Coordinating with local and multi-jurisdictional process servers regarding service and filing of court materials;
  • Coordinating with court offices and scheduling of appointments;

​Qualifications:

  • At least 3 year of previous experience as a paralegal in a litigation role
  • Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and the Rules of the Small Claims Court is a must
  • Familiarity with legal research
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Deadline and detail-oriented

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
