ABOUT US
We are a small boutique law firm based out of Toronto, in North York area at 401 & Sheppard.
QUALIFICATIONS
·You must be able to read, and speak English fluently without error (language tests will be conducted prior to hiring)
Law Clerk diploma or equivalent legal education.
· Minimum of 1–3 years’ local in Canada experience as a law clerk (litigation and family law experience preferred).
· Strong knowledge of Ontario court procedures, Rules of Civil Procedure, and/or Family Law Rules.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CLIO or equivalent legal software.
· Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
· Draft, statement of claims, family court forms (form 35.1 form 8 etc.), affidavits, notices of motion, financial statements, and settlement offers. Prepare, revise, and file legal docs online.
· Manage disclosure obligations: organize and review productions, track undertakings and refusals, and follow up with clients and opposing counsel to ensure compliance.
· Assist with trial and hearing preparation: prepare briefs, compile evidence binders, draft witness lists, and coordinate with experts and witnesses.
· Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date client files.
· Monitor and manage litigation timelines, including limitation periods, court deadlines, and filing requirements.
· Communicate directly with clients to provide updates, request documentation, and schedule meetings.
· Liaise with courts, tribunal staff, process servers, and opposing counsel regarding scheduling, filings, and case management.
· Conduct legal research on statutes, case law, and procedural rules to support ongoing files and lawyer submissions.
· Prepare draft correspondence, reports, and memoranda for lawyer review.
· Assist with billing and docketing by tracking time spent on matters and ensuring accurate records of services rendered.
· Attend court filings (in-person or e-filing) and coordinate service of documents.
· Support lawyers with administrative and operational tasks, including scheduling, calendar management, and task tracking.
· Proactively anticipate file needs and contribute to overall workflow efficiency to support the growth of the practice.
