JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Law Clerk to join a prestigious Brampton Law Firm in thier Civil Litigation dept. The ideal candidate will assist attorneys in various legal tasks, including research, drafting documents, and managing case files. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. The Law Clerk will play a crucial role in supporting our legal operations and ensuring that all administrative functions run smoothly.

REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate must have 3 + years experience in civil litigation with a focus on commercial litigation. Must have solid working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure.

  • Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents including affidavits and simple pleadings with minimal supervision. .
  • Proven research abilities with experience using legal databases such as LexisNexis.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in project management principles to assist in coordinating various legal projects.
  • Ability to conduct interviews professionally and gather pertinent information as needed on cases.
  • Familiarity with data entry processes and maintaining accurate records is essential. This Law Clerk position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain vadditional valuable experience in the civil litigation field while contributing meaningfully to our team’s success.

  • Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis to support case preparation.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
  • Assist in managing case files and documentation through iManage, maintaining organization and accessibility.
  • Perform data entry and clerical tasks to support attorneys in their daily activities.
  • Proofread legal documents for clarity, grammar, and compliance with formatting requirements.
  • Conduct interviews with clients and witnesses as needed to gather relevant information for cases.
  • Maintain effective phone etiquette when communicating with clients, court personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Organize and file documents in accordance with established protocols to ensure efficient retrieval of information.
  • Collaborate with team members on project management tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
