We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Law Clerk to join our Property & Development Division in Melbourne.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Professional and confident telephone manner.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent organisational and administrative ability.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Word, exposure to Caseflow or Opex (advantage);
  • Advanced knowledge of PEXA.
  • 3-4 years’ prior experience as a Law Clerk or Conveyancing Clerk.

Responsibilities
  • Opening and closing files, entering new files onto Caseflow or Opex;
  • Running conveyancing files from instruction through to settlement – predominantly high volume “off the plan sales” on behalf of property developers;
  • Preparing conveyancing documentation - including applying for the necessary property certificates; obtaining title searches; drafting contracts and vendors statements; preparing DocuSign contracts; preparing transfers and Duties online forms; drafting and preparing statement of adjustments and settlement statements; checking documents once returned;
  • Arranging and attending to PEXA settlements;
  • Preparing subdivision documentation for lodging;
  • Liaising with clients, client surveyors other party’s solicitors, banks and the Titles Office;
  • Keeping regular status checks of various plans of subdivision;
  • Drafting correspondence;
  • Dealing with client queries;
  • Dealing with basic queries from other parties’ solicitor;
  • General administrative tasks;
  • Answering telephone calls;
  • Obtaining searches of titles, property enquiry certificates, and company searches;
  • Sorting of mail and arranging couriers;
  • Preparing receipts;
  • Maintaining files;
  • Running daily and weekly reports;
  • Maintains file notes;
  • Creating and maintaining files – file management of substantial amounts of documents;
  • Dealing with clients and client queries in a polite and efficient manner;
  • Preparing weekly bills;
  • Any other reasonable duties as required.
