JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant with a strong background in law firm accounting, IOLTA and trust account management, and tax compliance to join our team. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in State Bar of California trust accounting rules, GAAP principles, and IRS compliance requirements. Proficiency with law firm operations, Clio (case management software), and accounting systems is essential.
This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly trust account reconciliations, handling client trust funds in strict compliance with ethical rules, and managing all aspects of tax preparation and returns for the firm. The Accountant will also provide advisory support on compliance, financial planning, and tax strategy to ensure long-term stability and efficiency.
This is a fully remote job. Work when and where you want, as long as the work gets done.

SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and law firm–specific trust accounting requirements.
  • Proven experience with IRS tax preparation, compliance, and filings for corporations.
  • Ability to prepare complete and accurate tax returns (federal and state) and advise on tax strategy.
  • Experience with State Bar–compliant reporting and reconciliation procedures.
  • Proficiency with Clio (or similar case management software) and accounting software such as QuickBooks.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in both trust compliance and tax work.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies.
  • Ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines, and provide proactive financial advice.
    Job Types: Part-time, Contract
    Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 1 – 10 per week

  • Prepare accurate financial statements, trust account reconciliations, and three-way reconciliations in compliance with GAAP and State Bar rules.

  • Monitor cash flow, budgets, and forecasts to provide consultative support to the managing attorney.
