Crownstone Equipment is seeking a skilled and motivated Lawn & Garden Service Technician to join our service team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work, troubleshooting equipment issues, and delivering high-quality repairs. The Lawn & Garden Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of small engine and grounds maintenance equipment to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction. Our team takes pride in professionalism, collaboration, and care — serving customers like family and building lasting partnerships in the construction and landscaping industries.   Role Description The Lawn & Garden Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining lawn and garden equipment, including mowers, handheld equipment, and other small engine products. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced service environment. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship.   Essential Duties & Responsibilities Diagnostics & Repair * Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on lawn and garden equipment. * Perform repairs on a variety of equipment including: * Zero-turn and riding mowers * Push mowers and walk-behind units * Two-cycle equipment (trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, etc.) * Utilize diagnostic tools, service manuals, and technical resources to identify and resolve issues. * Communicate repair needs and timelines clearly with service advisors. Maintenance & Service Work * Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, blade sharpening, filter replacement, and seasonal service. * Conduct preventative maintenance to extend equipment life and reduce downtime. * Ensure all service work meets OEM specifications and dealership quality standards. Equipment Inspection & Testing * Inspect equipment upon intake to identify service needs and document findings. * Test equipment post-repair to confirm proper operation and safety compliance. * Complete work orders accurately, including parts used, labor time, and detailed notes. Shop Support & Collaboration * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. * Collaborate with parts and service teams to ensure timely job completion. * Assist with set-up, pre-delivery inspections, or shop projects as needed. * Support overall branch operations and customer service initiatives. Educational & Experience Requirements * Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in small engine repair. * Familiarity with lawn and garden or landscaping equipment preferred. * Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently. * Basic understanding of electrical, fuel, and hydraulic systems. * High school diploma or equivalent required. Preferred Qualifications * Prior experience in a dealership or small engine repair environment. * Knowledge of two-cycle and four-cycle engine diagnostics and repair. * OEM certifications (Toro, Stihl, Echo, etc.) a plus. * Technical or trade school training in small engine or equipment repair. Essential Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to seventy-five (75) pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.   Note: This position is considered safety sensitive.   Work Environment This position is primarily based in a service shop environment with occasional outdoor work.
