Role Title: Lawyer, Asia Role location: Singapore Based How will I help? You will provide legal advice and support to the Westpac Institutional Bank (“WIB”) Asia business based in WBC, Singapore Branch and to the Asia Regional Head.   Through the partnership with key internal and external stakeholders this role will support the Westpac Group’s legal and risk strategy by influencing, negotiating and consulting.  Our legal advice is accurate, timely, cost effective and commercial. Key responsibilities in this role will require you to:  * independently advise, draft documents and assist in negotiation of transactions in compliance with laws, policies and requirements; * ensure external legal resources are properly and efficiently selected and used  * provide insight to WIB Asia business partners on and guide implementation of external advice. * ensure outputs produced by external counsel complies with our policies and requirements; * partner with the WIB Asia business in maintaining awareness of relevant regulatory requirements; * work closely with other WIB Legal lawyers, Financial Markets (FM) Legal Global Transaction Solutions (GTS) Legal and Westpac’s wider Legal & Secretariat function and other stakeholders to deliver high quality outcomes. This role will involve advising on a variety of banking transactions, lending and structured finance transactions. We’d expect you to have extensive and proven legal experience in a law firm or financial services organisation (5+ years PQE) across institutional lending, ideally across a range of sectors and with demonstrated expertise and competence.   Experience with trade finance and other structured finance transactions, Singapore MAS regulations, and cross border marketing of finance products in Asia, would be beneficial. You’ll have a growth mindset and a willingness to learn about other areas within the Bank. You will be proactive and well versed in understanding how businesses operate and applying your legal expertise and commercial judgement.
