We have an exciting opportunity for a Lawyer to Associate to join our Commercial Insurance (CTP) team in Sydney working with Renée Sadler and Vanessa Finlayson.

About the team and the work

  • This is a national team that offers a mixed practice of insurance (CTP) and government agency work.
  • They represent licensed insurers and scheme agents in every state and territory in Australia, managing claim portfolios and defend litigated claims. They are experts in major and catastrophic personal injury matters, intricate medical and fraudulent claims, complex liability disputes and assessments of damages.
  • The team also act for the Commonwealth on merits review matters in the Administrative Review Tribunal, which will give you the opportunity to be involved in regular advocacy work.
  • The team support a number of major general insurers in designing and implementing claims systems, help with strategic audits as well as review risk analysis and reserves.
  • This practice is high volume and will allow you to become a subject matter expert in two areas of law through support from senior team members.
  • You will be mentored and encouraged to develop your skills whilst supporting the senior members of the team.

About you

  • 2+ years experience gained in an insurance or litigation practice.
  • Plaintiff and in-house experience considered.
  • Advocacy experience in the Administrative Review Tribunal and/or CTP insurance experience is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrate the ability to organise and prioritise your time with proven file management skills.
