Description
The Layout Inspector provides metrology service and dimensional analyses for the full range of product units, sub-assemblies, fabricated piece-parts, purchased parts, and first-piece exhibits from machine shop tool setups for a variety of life support, air-to-air refueling, and personal survival equipment systems. In this function you will: Stage and perform size and positional measurements on product parts using manual surface-plate techniques or Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) on fragile parts, without damaging parts or measuring equipment Read and interpret complex tool design and engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning systems such as those described in ANSI Y14.5 (American National Standard Engineering Drawings and Related Documentation Practices) Maintain complete and accurate inspection records High School Diploma or G.E.D. from an accredited institution is required Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. All candidates must currently reside within 70 miles of Davenport, IA to be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee Position Criteria: Must demonstrate proficiency in job-related math skills, mechanical blueprint reading, gaging techniques, surface finish techniques, and records management Must demonstrate the ability to provide dimensional analyses for all product units, sub-assemblies, fabricated and purchased piece-parts, and first-piece exhibits from machine shop tool set-ups Must be able to work without detailed instructions, relying instead, upon his/her own knowledge of measuring applications Must be able to measure a variety of product units, sub-assemblies, and parts, using both manual surface-plate techniques and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) without damaging parts or measuring equipment Must be able to calibrate gauges Must be able to read and interpret complex tool design and engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning systems such as those described in ANSI Y14.5 Must be able to maintain complete and accurate inspection records, using a computer terminal.
