ABOUT THE GIG Location: Boston Department: Finance Type: Full Time As an Lead Accountant at Spartan Race, you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the financial operations of our international entities. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, you will ensure compliance with international accounting standards, optimize financial processes, and support global expansion initiatives. Your expertise in financial reporting, statutory compliance, and inter-company transactions will be key in driving efficiency and accuracy in Spartan Race’s international financial operations. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Detailed review of work prepared by international accounting consultants, including payment runs, expense reports, payroll, annual leave accruals, and related journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting packages Determine monthly funding of international entities based on analysis of subsidiary spending trends Manage statutory audits, tax filings including VAT/GST returns, and other regulatory filings and surveys Review inter-company invoicing, inter-company reconciliations, and consolidation and foreign currency re-measurement entries Coordinate with outside accounting firm on transfer pricing documentation and ensure compliance with transfer pricing policies Develop and maintain processes and internal controls for international financial operations, ensuring adherence to local regulations, while identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders in the setup of new legal entities and international operations Participate in special projects, analysis and ad-hoc tasks as required by management This role reports to the Corporate Controller Requirements REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 3+ years of international accounting experience Public accounting experience and CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred Experience with multi-book accounting in NetSuite OneWorld and proficiency with Microsoft Office including advanced Excel skills Experience with analyzing and mitigating foreign exchange risk preferred Strong project management and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills and flexibility in working with third parties across geographic regions A commitment to process improvement and scalability
