Overview At Seven Hills Pediatric Center, we are dedicated to enhancing the lives of children with a range of needs by providing compassionate care and innovative programming. We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and compassionate Lead Activities Assistant to join our team and play a vital role in planning and implementing activities that enrich the lives of the children in our care. As a Lead Activities Assistant, you will work closely with the Activities Manager to design, implement, and oversee engaging and therapeutic activities for our residents. You will be instrumental in creating an environment where participation is high, residents feel valued, and activities are aligned with their developmental and personal needs. Pay Rate: $20.00/hr Responsibilities Assist in Planning & Implementing Activities: Help design and execute a variety of activities—arts and crafts, music therapy, physical exercises, games, and educational activities that promote cognitive, emotional, and social growth. Coordinate Field Trips and Community Experiences: Work with the Activities Manager to organize off-campus trips and activities that offer new experiences, such as visits to museums, parks, and community events. Document Activities & Resident Responses: Accurately document the outcomes of activities, including resident participation levels and feedback, to ensure personalized care and future improvements. Participate in Care Plan Meetings: Attend quarterly resident care plan meetings and assist the Activities Manager in writing summaries and updates regarding residents' progress and participation. Collaborate Across Departments: Work with other teams (medical, dietary, therapy) to ensure activities align with resident needs and care plans. Set Up Materials & Transport Residents: Prepare materials for activities and provide assistance with resident transport as needed, ensuring safe, efficient, and engaging experiences. Foster Family Relationships: Maintain open, respectful communication with residents' family members and involve them in activities where possible. Adhere to Safety & Health Protocols: Comply with all safety standards, including infection control and resident care guidelines. Complete In-Service Education: Attend mandatory training sessions to stay informed of best practices and improve skills relevant to your role. Qualifications Experience in Activity Planning: Prior experience in designing and leading engaging activities for children, especially those with special needs, is highly preferred. Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with residents, families, and staff. Creative & Artistic Skills: A passion for arts and crafts, music, or other creative activities to engage children in therapeutic experiences. Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate residents and fellow staff members in a positive and supportive manner. Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to identify needs and implement solutions in a timely manner. Team Collaboration: Comfortable working with a multi-disciplinary team to create the best possible experience for residents. Cultural Competence: Respect and understanding of cultural differences, ensuring that all residents feel valued and included. Willingness to Learn: Openness to feedback and a strong desire for continuous professional development. Physical & Emotional Resilience: Ability to work in a busy, sometimes high-stress environment with exposure to unpleasant odors, high noise levels, and occasional exposure to communicable diseases. Transportation Assistance: Willingness to assist with transporting residents to activities and appointments. Education: High School Diploma/GED/HiSET required.
