Our Energy subsector, a key component of WSP’s ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) sector, supports clients from coast to coast. From small installations to multi-phase integrated megaprojects, we support your upstream, midstream, or downstream oil and gas activities and energy transition markets at all stages of the project lifecycle, anywhere in the world. We are focused on providing design, engineering and environmental services that contribute to climate adaptation and mitigation, sustain the use and protection of water and marine resources, protect and restore biodiversity, and support our clients as they transition to low carbon solutions. To meet our growth challenges, WSP is currently seeking a Lead Advisor, to join our Energy Transition Advisory team within WSP Canada’s Energy Resources and Industry (ERI) business line. This role can be based in Toronto (GTA), Montreal, Calgary or Vancouver.
Our Advisory team delivers strategic insights and innovative and solutions to help clients address the impacts of climate change, transition from high carbon to low carbon energy systems, and achieve their sustainability and business objectives. We provide technical, operational and investment analysis that supports informed decision-making across the energy infrastructure spectrum. This role is at the intersection of technical expertise and strategic consulting and is suited for a highly motivated professional who thrives on solving complex, multi-disciplinary challenges related to Energy Transition. Responsibilities will include ensuring the delivery of a range of advisory services to support clients in the early stages of problem evaluation, technology selection, risk management and investment planning. The successful candidate will possess a broad understanding of energy technologies, the nexus between AI and energy, large scale energy project developments, the functioning of the energy markets, and the drivers for successful operations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical advisory across hydrogen, CCUS, biofuels, renewables, and midstream assets (pipelines, grid, storage)
  • Lead engagements: concept development, feasibility studies, technology assessments, business cases, and energy system optimization
  • Develop decarbonization strategies and roadmaps for high-emission sectors
  • Recommend low-carbon technologies tailored to client operations
  • Conduct GHG evaluations and life cycle assessments (LCA)
  • Assess solutions for powering data centers and consider AI to optimize energy systems
  • Analyze regulations and incentives to identify clean energy investment risks/opportunities
  • Support due diligence and risk assessments for energy projects
  • Act as project manager from initiation to completion
  • Collaborate across WSP’s global network to ensure project success
  • Mentor junior team members and build client relationships
  • Lead proposal development and strategic pitches
  • Contribute thought leadership and represent WSP at industry forums
  • Build partnerships to address energy transition challenges and drive innovation
