WHO DO WE NEED?

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Lead AI & Data Engineer with deep expertise in modern data engineering, including ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and orchestration.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in building and optimising scalable data platforms on Microsoft Azure, with hands-on knowledge of services like Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake, Databricks, and Purview.
You will have a strong grasp of data modelling principles, particularly dimensional and semantic models, and be comfortable working with languages such as Python, SQL, and YAML.
Your approach should prioritise automation, with a solid track record in CI/CD practices and infrastructure-as-code using technologies like Terraform or Bicep. You’ll also be experienced in deploying both machine learning models and generative AI applications into production environments.
In this lead role, you will play a pivotal role in embedding modern engineering practices such as DataOps and MLOps within Agile frameworks, ensuring delivery through structured deployment controls.
In addition to your technical capabilities, you will be a clear and effective communicator, adept at explaining complex topics to varied audiences.
This role involves leading and supporting your team, with direct line management of one team member and the opportunity to nurture the growth and development of others across the wider AI & Data community and other colleagues across ICAS.
