At iO, we build AI solutions that really matter. We do this for clients including Efteling, large municipalities, financial institutions, Landal, and building materials manufacturers operating globally. Not proofs-of-concept that end up in a drawer, but products running in production. On AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

As a Lead AI Engineer, you are the technical engine and the face to the client. You work about three days a week building AI solutions, together with one or two Applied AI Engineers and Back-end Engineers, and you are in direct contact with the client. You spend the rest of your time keeping the approach sharp: exploring new opportunities, devising architectures, and advancing the AI ​​engineering chapter.

You guide colleagues through challenges, coach them, and help iO's AI Engineering Competence Center grow into one of the strongest AI teams in the Netherlands. And you don't do that from behind your screen, but by standing alongside people, both internally and at the client.

• What does that look like in practice? Think of AI-driven storytelling with real-time voice creation for immersive experiences, support agents that understand and process reservations via chat, or smart grant advice for large municipalities based on multiple data sources. We build semantic search solutions that search thousands of locations based on natural language, analyze transaction data for financial institutions and provide concrete improvement recommendations, and help educational organizations screen internship companies so that assessors only need to conduct one interview.
