Lead AI Engineer | Munich | Flexible comp + meaningful equity

High-growth AI startup in Munich already deploying agent-based systems into complex manufacturing environments. These systems sit directly in real sales and configuration workflows, used by customers today.

The product is live with multiple high-value customers and a small number of deep design partners. Backed by experienced founders and strong early investors, they’re moving from early traction into scale, with AI at the core of the platform.

This is interesting because of the ownership and problem space. You’re working on agent systems that need to reason, operate across messy multimodal data, and deliver real outcomes in production.

Role

Lead AI Engineer owning the design and delivery of production-grade agent systems, setting direction across AI.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design of agent-based systems across the core product
• Own end-to-end delivery of AI features from concept to production
• Define approaches to LLM usage, orchestration, evaluation and reliability
• Work closely with customers to turn complex workflows into scalable systems
• Mentor engineers and raise the bar across AI and backend engineering
• Drive decisions across models, tooling and system design

Requirements

• Strong software engineering background with Python
• Proven experience building and deploying LLM or agent systems in production
• Experience designing scalable backend systems and data pipelines
• Track record of ownership or technical leadership in fast-paced environments
• Comfortable working with ambiguity and setting direction
• Strong communication skills, able to engage directly with customers
