Job Description Job Summary In this role, you will work as a Lead Electrical Engineer in the Veolia Water Tech Analytical Instrument Technology team specializing in designing analog electronic systems and modules for development projects launching new analytical instrumentation. Key Characteristics: Demonstrate curiosity by actively seeking answers by asking questions, examining details, and venturing out of their comfort zone to gain new information Creative problem solver and critical thinker who enjoys technical challenges Excellent interpersonal skills with emphasis on engagement, teamwork, and positive attitude Self-starter with the ability to work independently, identify problems, formulate solutions, and determine priorities with minimum oversight Meticulous with a keen eye for detail, ensuring high-quality deliverables Enjoys working in a team environment and collaborating with others to develop solutions to technical challenges Enjoys technical challenges and breaking down problems into more manageable parts, evaluating options, and making well-reasoned judgements Highly organized with an utmost attention to detail while supporting multiple projects Duties & Responsibilities Work with cross functional engineering teams on new instrumentation designs for research and development projects Design Analog Front End (AFE) electronics including multi-stage high gain signal amplification and filtering Design analog hardware utilizing amplifiers, ADCs/DACs, power supplies, and control circuitry to meet functional and performance specifications following best practices Responsible for system and detailed circuit development, modeling, and simulation for PBCA products Lead design activities by developing schedules and milestones, facilitating design reviews and knowledge transfer activities, selecting options for prototyping efforts, coordinating activities and updates from other electrical engineers on the project team, and identifying risk mitigation options to achieve project goals Create and execute test plans to qualify components and board designs, verify performance, and document results Translate system performance and operational specifications into hardware requirements, design, and test specifications as well as Theory of Operation documents Release designs to production using Engineering Change Orders and a Configuration Management release process Actively participate in the development of electrical standards for product development and improvement Mentor more junior team members by providing technical guidance and subject matter expertise Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Required Skills: Solid technical background with understanding of analog electronic circuit design and electronic systems Fluent in Analog Front End (AFE) design including multi-stage high gain signal amplification and filtering Strong experience in the detection and reconstruction of signals from a high noise background Experience using engineering CAD tools for circuit board design and schematic capture (Altium Preferred) Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting while working in a lab environment during board bring-up, characterization, and system level hardware integration using test equipment such as a DMM, oscilloscope, pulse generator, current probe, spectrum analyzer, etc Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively work within a larger cross functional team Ability to manage actions for medium to large projects to completion while sharing technical knowledge with the group Quick learner able to understand complex schematics and system architectures Ability to collaborate with cross departmental teams Ability to translate user needs into tangible product and functional requirements Ability to develop new designs to satisfy user and functional requirements Ability to understand applications of Analytical Instruments within our chosen vertical markets and importance to meeting product goals Architectural experience to help generate robust system-level designs in concert with technical experts from other disciplines Preferred Skills: Familiar with circuit simulation and modeling tools such as PSPICE and MATLAB Agile, rapid prototyping mindset when working with other team members to expediently explore parallel options and provide recommendations for the best approach Education & Experience Preferred: Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering 10+ years of experience in analog design as well as product design, development, and test of electronic assemblies and instruments Additional Information At Veolia, we realize diverse teams make smarter decisions, deliver better results, and build stronger communities.
