JOB SUMMARY

We are currently looking for a Lead Applications Operations Engineer to join our Technology & Service Operations function within the Digital & Technology group.
This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU or South Mimms, Hertfordshire. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.
Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.

We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

  • This role will also be required to participate in the Agency’s out of hours on-call rota on a periodic basis. An on-call payment will be added to the salary depending on the frequency of participation in the rota.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Our successful candidate will have:

  • A degree or graduate qualification in a computing discipline or will have substantial experience in a technical role in an IT support department
  • Working knowledge and experience with web development & support, SQL, monitoring platforms, DevOps tooling and other applications and systems
  • Experience of implementing, and reviewing systems and services to ensure that they meet user needs
  • A track record of working collaboratively with others, identifying and analysing stakeholder views and requirements

Responsibilities

WHAT’S THE ROLE?

The Lead Applications Operations Engineer will be working on discreet small projects to maintain the applications in production. This will include (but not limited to): System upgrades and patching, implementing integrations between existing systems, finding and implementing solutions to outdated processes. This is a technical role mainly working on Windows OS within Aure and on-prem virtualised estate.
