Description It is the responsibility of this position to plan, coordinate, and manage the total output and throughput of the GasTech Assembly Department. This position ensures all tasks necessary to fabricate, assemble, pressure test, and prepare for shipment all process equipment deliverables in accordance with applicable codes, standards, drawings, and client requirements. The purpose of the position is to provide the highest level of final assembly manufacturing leadership and technical excellence for all personnel performing assembly operations. This position is responsible for producing products within the time and man-hours allocated in the production schedule, and in accordance with GasTech Quality Requirements. It is the goal of the position to establish the GasTech Assembly Department as the most highly respected process equipment manufacturing group in the industries, and for the clients, we serve. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This includes but is not limited to the following: 1. Adhere to all established company safety expectations and procedures. 2. Participate in safety audits and other types of leadership safety enforcement activities as required. 3. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to provide a safe and injury/accident-free workplace as instructed. 4. Plan and organize the department workforce. 5. Job, space, tooling, and equipment planning as required, to maximize throughput. 6. Establish root cause and corrective actions to eliminate Quality incidents. 7. Drive root cause closed loop corrective action initiatives 8. Participate and lead closed loop corrective action sessions to reduce the cost of poor quality. 9. Must possess the ability to interact with staff, customers, and vendors in a diplomatic and professional demeanor. Moderate level of customer contact is required. 10. Ensure the proper welding consumables are purchased, available, and adequately marked and stored. 11. Ensure personnel are properly qualified to GasTech Weld Procedure Specifications 12. Perform supervisory functions for the Manufacturing Manager in his/her absence as needed. 13. Knowledgeable in all ASME and ANSI Code welding requirements as it pertains to this department. 14. Knowledgeable in all oxy-fuel, plasma cutting and arc-gouging operations. 15. Ensure personnel are “in-procedure” when welding, as required by customer order. 16. Ensure department-specific employee training programs are implemented and followed. 17. Provide job status and scheduling information to the Manufacturing Manager 18. Ensure all team members practice proper, professional, and consistent housekeeping. 19. Prepare, stage, and control the job flow through the Department. 20. Identify maintenance requirements and ensure their completion on all shop equipment. 21. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and interact professionally with Customers and Customer representatives. 22. Must possess the ability to speak in front of staff at various group meetings, including department meetings, shop staff meetings, companywide meetings, etc. 23. Must possess the ability to communicate and effectively deal with all levels of staff. Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: · This position demands high leadership ability and technical knowledge in the fitting and welding of process piping, and the assembly and testing of process vessels and skids and related equipment. · Minimum of 5 years’ experience in process equipment assembly, 3 of which is in a Code welding facility. · Experience leading teams is highly desirable. · Strong, hands-on, fitting and welding background is essential. · Able to read and understand all engineering documentation is mandatory. · Experience in reading and interpreting NDE results is also essential. · Experience in an ISO 9000 environment is suggested. · Proficiency with computer applications, including MS Office applications, is helpful. · A complete understanding of shop scheduling, shop layout and process throughput is required. · Travel is rare but may be occasionally required. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Heavy construction and fabrication environment: constantly. Office environment : minimal.
