We’re focused on outcomes that deliver more choice, connections and confidence in our travel, ensuring the whole transport network works as one to deliver better services and outcomes.   About the Role The Lead Asset Investment and Performance Modelling position sits in the Asset Investment Analytics and Insights, within the Asset Intelligence Branch of the Assets and Engineering Division.  The role will contribute to the development and implementation of new predictive models and analytics across road and rail asset classes. The role will support the Asset Investment Analytics and Insights team by producing innovative insightful analytical solutions, input on matters related to the various models developed and maintained by the team, covering problem statements, condition and performance metrics, failure patterns and triggers, treatments and corrective actions. The role will solve complex asset modelling issues and provide accurate and pertinent information for asset management decisions making. To access the Position Description, please click here.   Position Outcomes / Accountabilities Asset Analytics and Modelling - Predictive Model Development and Operation Support the development and operation of predictive investment and performance models. This included in participating and supporting in identifying problems, analysing data, and designing solutions, implementing, and testing. Utilised advanced data-driven approaches to provide actionable insights and recommendations that enhance investment modelling outcomes. Data Integration and Visualisation - Asset Insights Integrated data from multiple sources such as asset registers, inspections, historical records, financial data, and predictive models to create unified and consistent insights that supported comprehensive asset analysis and planning. Develop and maintain intuitive dashboards and dynamic visualizations that translated complex data into actionable insights, enabling stakeholders to understand asset health, risks, and trends effectively for informed decision-making. Asset Management - Lifecycle Planning and Cost Analysis Conduct lifecycle cost analyses using sophisticated models and rapid modelling techniques to provide actionable insights on road and rail assets. Provide detailed reports and recommendations on investment scenarios and work plans, demonstrating the cost, performance, and risk trade-offs to support optimal asset management. Assurance and Reporting - Operator Output Assurance and Review Support the assurance review of rail operator asset investment models, conducting periodic evaluations in line with contractual requirements. Where appropriate, findings were used to inform and enhance the department’s own models. Data Requirements Advised on data requirements for long-term asset health modelling and supported updates to asset data specifications, ensuring accurate and effective health analysis over time   Key Selection Criteria The DTP is seeking an accomplished professional with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills who can deliver tangible business outcomes by considering the wider context and implementing effective, sustainable solutions. The role translates strategy into well-governed programs and projects, applies systems and outcomes thinking to drive positive community impact, and fosters a strong culture of collaboration across teams. You will also apply data analytics, statistical and machine learning techniques to develop low-complexity models that support informed decision-making.   Qualifications and Experience Mandatory Tertiary qualification in data science or engineering or qualification/s in asset management Experience in analysing complex infrastructure asset data and information. Asset Management and program development experience.
