Description Lead, train, and supervise mechanics and maintenance staff Perform and oversee preventative maintenance and repairs on school buses and fleet vehicles Ensure all vehicles meet DOT, state, and school district safety standards Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues Schedule inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance programs Maintain accurate maintenance records and inspection documentation Coordinate with transportation leadership on fleet needs and repair priorities Order parts, manage inventory, and control maintenance costs Respond to emergency breakdowns as needed Promote a safe, organized, and efficient shop environment Requirements Strong leadership and communication skills Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities High attention to detail and safety Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks High school diploma or GED (technical certification preferred) Minimum 5 years of heavy-duty or school bus mechanical experience Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred Strong knowledge of diesel engines, brakes, electrical systems, and HVAC Familiarity with DOT and state school bus regulations Valid driver’s license; CDL (or ability to obtain) preferred Ability to pass background check and drug screening
